Russia calls on the United States to continue its arms control policy, rather than increase spending on nuclear weapons, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing.
“The rampant buildup of military power, especially outside of any deterrent legal framework, is just a dead end. A much more effective way to ensure national security is to continue the arms control policy and establish peaceful interaction with other states, which we again call on the United States to”, – she stated.
Pentagon Deputy Procurement and Technical Assistant Alan Schaffer said earlier that the US needs to maintain nuclear deterrence capabilities and modernize the triad in the face of the latest Russian weapons, such as Avangard hypersonic missiles.
According to him, China and Russia are conducting similar developments, despite the fact that they have enough to solve the tasks of containing an arsenal of intercontinental ballistic missiles.
