Russian Foreign Ministry sees no problem in future US hypersonic weapons tests

Russia sees no problems in the plans of the Americans to test hypersonic weapons, the director of the Department for Non-Proliferation and Arms Control of the Russian Foreign Ministry Vladimir Ermakov told the reporters.

Earlier, Deputy Director of the US Department of Defense Hypersonic Weapons program, Mike White, said that Washington would test-launch supersonic weapons this year.

“In the United States, the development of hypersonic weapons has been carried out for many decades. Naturally, when there were assessments that Russia had significantly succeeded in this, the United States began to accelerate processes. This is normal, there should not be any special problems”, – said Vladimir Ermakov.

In March 2018, in a message to the Federal Assembly, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented hypersonic weapons – the Avangard and Dagger complexes. Later it became known about the development of the Zircon hypersonic cruise missile in Russia.

In turn, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu noted that Russia is also testing the latest hypersonic weapons. In addition, the Russian military are immediately leading dozens of hypersound projects.
