Turkish Foreign Minister also stressed that Ankara and Moscow are cooperating in Syria, despite the disagreements.
Turkey is satisfied with cooperation with Russia to resolve the situation in Libya. This was announced on Wednesday by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu at a panel session on “Geopolitical Perspectives: Middle East and North Africa” on the margins of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.
“We worked with Russia on the issue of establishing an effective ceasefire regime, and it worked. We didn’t manage to start working in this direction with our European colleagues, so we worked with Russia”, – he said and noted that “there are periodic violations of the ceasefire regime in Libya.
Cavusoglu also stressed that Ankara and Moscow are cooperating in Syria, despite the disagreements. “We cooperate with Russia in Syria because it has become a very important player. We started our cooperation to evacuate people from Aleppo, then it was extended to the whole of Syria. We started to work within the Astana process, inviting Iran”, – added the Turkish Foreign Minister.
