NATO to establish Black Sea focal point in Bulgaria

The command headquarters will be located in the Romanian Varna, and the focal point in Bulgaria.
Bulgaria will host on its territory a NATO focal point in the Black Sea.

This was announced by Prime Minister Boyko Borisov following talks with US President Donald Trump. The broadcast of the speech of the Bulgarian Prime Minister was conducted by the television Channel 3.

“Training in the Black Sea should be carried out, the more the better, because they provide a preventive effect. We will have a focal point (NATO), which is not a base or a flotilla, but is a focal point. The command headquarters will be in Romania, and the coordination center in Varna, it’s convenient logistically”, –  said Borisov, answering questions from representatives of the Bulgarian media following negotiations with Trump.

He also expressed hope that the Black Sea would be safer.

Borisov said that if Trump visits Bulgaria, he will certainly show him the best Black Sea resorts and golf clubs.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg announced the prevention of a repetition of the “Crimean scenario” in the territory of the Alliance member countries.

As reported, in October, NATO and Ukraine held exercises in the Black Sea.
