Georgia’s pro-Western elites plan to stage another rally of anti-Russian protests at the hands of youth. Already today, young nationalists will storm the republic’s parliament building.
Giga Makarashvili, leader of the local movement “Shame”, announced the upcoming action.
“We need to get together at the Parliament building. We can return to European orbit. We may not follow towards Russia”, – proclaimed Makarashvili.
Protests are scheduled for 19:00 local time [18:00 Moscow time] amid the failure of the adoption in the first reading of amendments to the Constitution, which implied a transition to a proportional electoral system.
As News Front previously reported, a Russophobic campaign staged by pro-Western opposition forces swept through Georgia last summer. The consequence of those events was the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin to stop direct communication with the republic to ensure the safety of Russian citizens. The problem is that this happened at the height of the tourist season. According to the latest data, in this regard, Georgia lost at least $ 710 million.
