Russia will continue to support Iraq’s efforts to combat terrorism.
This is the Russian Ambassador to this country Maxim Maximov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“We supported and will continue to support the efforts of our Iraqi partners in the fight against terrorism. Moreover, this problem remains acute”, – the ambassador said.
According to the Russian diplomat, “terrorist attacks are still taking place in a number of areas of the country, including along the Iraqi-Syrian border”.
“In this context, the demand for the activities of the Baghdad quadrilateral information center, created in 2015 as part of Russia, Iraq, Iran and Syria, is growing”, – said the Russian ambassador.
The military departments of the Russian Federation, Syria, Iran and Iraq in 2015 created a coordination center for the exchange of intelligence information in Baghdad. Its main functions are the collection, processing, generalization and analysis of current data on the situation in the Middle East region in the context of the fight against militants, the distribution of information as intended and the prompt transfer to the general headquarters of these countries.
