British House Speaker John Birkou has blocked re-consideration of Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Brexit agreement.
The speaker announced his decision in mid-Monday at a chamber meeting.
At an emergency hearing on October 19, the House of Commons actually refused to support Johnson’s proposed agreement with the EU on Brexit, amending the text of the document confirming the validity of the legislative norm adopted in September on the prime minister’s obligation to postpone the date of exit from the EU by three months or until the deal will not be approved. Johnson promised and tried to re-introduce the bill on Monday.
“This issue was considered less than 49 hours ago and was discussed during a three-hour debate… The chamber adopted an amendment to the document. It is impossible to suggest a significant change in circumstances for the revision (position of the chamber)… My decision is this: the prime minister’s proposal will not be discussed today”, – said Birkou.
“The parliament should not be bombarded with the same document again and again”, – the speaker added.
