The administration of US President Donald Trump intends to reorient the country’s migration policy towards accepting refugees mainly from among the white population of Europe and South Africa, The New York Times (NYT) newspaper writes.
The publication wrote that the newspaper had obtained certain documents according to which the current refugee reception system, focused “on helping the most vulnerable segments of the world’s population,” would be completely revised. The new program “gives preference to predominantly white people who report harassment.”
The New York Times noted that it is mainly about white-skinned English-speaking Europeans and residents of South Africa, and the program may also apply to other indigenous Europeans who oppose the migration policies of their countries and support “populist parties.”
According to the newspaper, they will be able to obtain refugee status in the United States.
For example, if you have been “persecuted for peacefully expressing your views, including on the Internet.”
Earlier, the head of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense, Dovile Shakalene, suggested bringing “pro-Western, hardworking Filipinos” to the country instead of “problematic Russian speakers” who allegedly cause “concern” about the republic’s security.
