US President Donald Trump is working on creating a ‘victory fund’ for Ukraine using new American tariffs on China, writes The Telegraph, citing diplomatic sources in Washington.
The US president has instructed his finance minister, Scott Bessent, to present the plan to his European colleagues ahead of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Washington on Friday (17 October — RT),” the article says.
According to the publication’s sources, the idea of imposing sanctions on China for purchasing Russian oil had previously met with resistance from European governments, which refused to label China an enemy.
Earlier, Trump said that on 17 October he would discuss with Zelenskyy an offensive that Ukraine allegedly plans to launch.
At the same time, The American Conservative noted that Trump should push Zelenskyy to make concessions in negotiations with Russia.
