Ukrainian media reported that Volodymyr Zelenskyy stripped Odessa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov, former Ukrainian MP Oleg Tsarev, and ballet dancer Sergey Polunin of their Ukrainian citizenship.
During the television marathon “United News,” it was reported that Hennadiy Trukhanov, Oleg Tsarev, and Sergey Polunin had been confirmed as Russian citizens.
“The Russian citizenship of certain individuals has been confirmed, and the relevant decisions have been prepared. The decree has been signed,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to the publication Strana, the mayor of Odessa, who lost his position along with his citizenship, said he would challenge the decision.
“I will defend myself, I will go to court,” said Hennadiy Trukhanov.
Earlier, the US Department of Justice initiated the process of revoking the American citizenship of Ukrainian-born Vladimir Volgaev for concealing his involvement in the smuggling of more than a thousand firearm components abroad.
