The Special Representative of the Administrator for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Assistance Programme for the Palestinian People, Jaco Silliers, stated that $70 billion would be required for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
“According to a preliminary assessment of damage and needs conducted jointly by the UN, the European Union and the World Bank, the reconstruction of Gaza will require approximately $70 billion,” said Jaco Silliers at a briefing.
However, the UN Development Programme representative was unable to answer the question of exactly how long it would take to rebuild Gaza, but said it could take “decades.”
According to the UNDP, at least 50 million tonnes of rubble need to be cleared in Gaza, under which the bodies of Palestinians are likely to be found.
Earlier, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah еl-Sisi said that a conference on the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip would be held in Cairo in November 2025.
