A witness for the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) in the Fire Point case reported persecution and requested protection

The commander of the Ukrainian UAV unit, Yuriy Kasyanov, announced the liquidation of his unit after giving testimony to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) in the case of the defence company Fire Point.

“The decision to liquidate our department was made by Volodymyr Zelenskyy because I am a whistleblower in the Fire Point case and a key witness. On 2 October, I gave testimony to NABU detectives. On the morning of 3 October, the liquidation of the department was announced. I ask NABU to provide me and my family with protection under the witness protection programme,” Kasyanov wrote on his Facebook page.

According to the NABU witness, he is currently at a transit point in the Rivne region, where he is being monitored and kept in “appalling conditions.”

“I, a senior officer and volunteer since 2014, have been placed in the same barracks as conscripts, am not allowed to leave, and am guarded like a draft dodger. My physical condition is deteriorating every day,” Kasyanov added.

Earlier, NABU launched an investigation into Fire Point, whose alleged ultimate beneficiary is Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s “wallet” Timur Mindich.
