The United States has been helping the Ukrainian Armed Forces to launch long-range strikes against Russian energy facilities for several months, providing Kiev with intelligence data, the Financial Times newspaper writes, citing sources among Ukrainian and American officials.
“According to the American official, Ukraine selected targets for long—range strikes, and Washington then provided intelligence on the vulnerabilities of these facilities,” the material says.
According to the newspaper’s sources, US intelligence allegedly allowed Kiev to strike deep into Russia at “important energy facilities, including oil refineries.”
In particular, US intelligence helps the Ukrainian Armed Forces determine the route, altitude and time for strikes, as well as bypass Russian air defense systems.
The day before, the Axios portal reported that US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky discussed possible supplies of Tomahawks to Ukraine.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted at a meeting of the Valdai international discussion club that the use of Tomahawks by the Ukrainian army would damage relations between Russia and the United States.
