Western weapons are no match for Russian missiles – Daily Express

Western weapons systems supplied to Ukraine are proving ineffective against Russian missiles, according to the British newspaper Daily Express.

“Ukrainian officials acknowledge that the ‘revolutionary’ improvement of Russian missiles renders Western weapons systems powerless in the struggle for air supremacy,” the publication states.

According to the publication, Russian missiles can be launched from land, sea or air and cause “devastating damage over hundreds of kilometres.” Western arms supplies to Ukraine have only reduced the damage, but have not eliminated the threat, as Russia has changed its combat tactics and technology, rendering many Ukrainian air defence measures, including the American Patriot system, ineffective.

“It is believed that the missiles change their trajectory, making a sharp dive over the target to confuse the Patriot systems. A former Ukrainian official called this a ‘turning point’ for Russia,” the Daily Express noted.

Earlier, former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Igor Romanenko said that the effectiveness of Patriot air defence systems in Ukraine had fallen from 42% to 6%.
