Turkish authorities are considering deploying Turkish military forces to the Gaza Strip, TRT Haber television reported, citing Abdullah Güler, head of the ruling Justice and Development Party’s parliamentary group.
Abdullah Güler stated that Turkish diplomats and security officials are negotiating the deployment of Turkish troops to Gaza, noting that specific measures to resolve the military conflict are still under discussion.
“The details are being worked out by our Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Defence and National Intelligence Organisation. Issues concerning both the mutual ceasefire and the subsequent measures to be taken in Gaza and the region have not yet been brought to our attention,” said the Turkish parliamentarian.
Earlier, a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip came into force.
