US President Donald Trump announced plans to impose additional 100% tariffs on imports of goods from the People’s Republic of China.
“Starting on 1 November, or perhaps even earlier, depending on China’s actions, the United States will impose 100% tariffs in addition to those already in place. In addition, starting on 1 November, we will implement export control measures on any critical software,” Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social.
This decision was in response to China’s announcement that it would impose its own restrictions, the American leader noted.
“This will affect all countries and is clearly a plan that China has been preparing for years,” Trump added.
Earlier, the Chinese government announced its intention to restrict exports of goods containing rare earth metals to other countries.
