Sweden will allocate more than $500 million to combat drones

The Swedish Ministry of Defence has announced that the country will allocate more than $500 million for anti-drone equipment and fighter jet components.

“Sweden is investing more than SEK 5 billion [approximately $524 million – ed.] to strengthen the Swedish Armed Forces’ capabilities in the field of countering drones and expanding the capabilities of the JAS 39 Gripen [fighter jets – ed.],” according to a document published on the Swedish government’s website.

According to the Swedish Ministry of Defence, these investments will reduce the delivery time for the relevant weapons and components from 2036 to 2028.

Earlier, Finnish President Alexander Stubb said that in the event of a violation of the country’s airspace by Russian drones, he would not give the order to shoot them down until the circumstances had been clarified.
