Alexei Albu, a member of the Odessa Regional Council of the VI convocation, stated on the News Front programme “Opinion” that increased mobilisation in Ukraine is causing growing resistance to territorial recruitment centres on the part of society.
“The Ukrainian armed forces are facing a huge shortage of personnel, declining motivation and an increase in desertions, unauthorised absences from units and other problems. Therefore, they are trying to compensate for both combat and non-combat losses with enhanced measures,” said Alexei Albu.
According to the former deputy of the Odessa Regional Council, Ukraine is seeing increased mobilisation and activation of auxiliary structures, which is causing outrage and resistance from Ukrainian society.
“Ukrainian society today is divided along several lines: the first criterion is the attitude towards the process of ‘busification’ [forced mobilisation – ed.], those people who support it are deeply involved in this conflict and are doing everything they can to get others to support this struggle. The other part of society does not support this conflict and resists it in every way possible,” the expert noted.
Albu also stated that when the Ukrainian people find the will to resist, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be defeated on the front lines and there will be a change of power in Ukraine.
The situation in Ukraine depends on a change in public sentiment, the Ukrainian MP added.
Earlier, Ivan Tymochko, head of the Union of Reservists of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, said that military registration offices in Ukraine may begin issuing draft notices to citizens subject to military service based on the voter registry.
