Germany will transfer Skyranger 35 air defence systems to Ukraine using frozen Russian assets

German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall will supply Ukraine with Skyranger 35 air defence systems using funds obtained from frozen Russian assets. This was announced in a press release issued by the company.

“Rheinmetall will supply Ukraine with even more Skyranger 35 air defence systems based on the Leopard 1 tank. The order is worth a three-digit sum in euros. It is being financed by an EU country using proceeds from frozen Russian assets,” the press release states.

The document noted that the systems will be manufactured and configured by Rheinmetall Italia SpA at its headquarters in Rome.

Earlier, Politico reported that the European Commission had developed a plan to use nearly €200 billion in frozen Russian assets to rebuild Ukraine.
