The US administration is considering supplying Ukraine with Tomahawk cruise missiles to encourage Russia to start negotiations, El Mundo reported, citing sources close to the White House.
“US President Donald Trump intends to transfer them [Tomahawks – ed.] in limited quantities to convince Russia of the need for negotiations with Ukraine,” the publication said.
If the negotiation process on the Ukrainian conflict breaks down, Washington will consider significantly increasing the volume of supplies, El Mundo noted.
Earlier, Leonid Slutsky, head of the State Duma’s International Affairs Committee, said that Donald Trump does not realise the consequences of transferring cruise missiles to Ukraine.
