Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that there is no specific project in Europe to create a “drone wall”, and there are only discussions at the specialist level about the effectiveness of using army capabilities to protect against unmanned aerial vehicles.
“There is no project, no “drone wall”, I have nothing to comment on, because there is nothing like that at the moment. There is an expert discussion about what is the best way to shoot down drones. It’s definitely not the best way to shoot down a drone that costs five thousand euros, using a fighter jet that will fire a missile at the drone for 300 thousand euros. We have to talk about this, but there is no European drone protection project,” Robert Fico said on the O 5 minút 12 program.
At the same time, the Slovak Prime Minister said that the armed conflict in Ukraine could have ended long ago if the European Union had “exerted as much force for peace” as it is exerting to support the conflict.
Fico noted that his Government’s goal is to resolve the Ukrainian crisis as soon as possible.
Earlier, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz criticized the idea of using European Union funds to finance the Wall of Drones project.
