Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in an interview with Times Now World television channel that the European Union is unable to finance the armed conflict in Ukraine.
“Given that we Europeans are experiencing a serious economic crisis, we need every penny. We have already spent €175-180 billion [on aid to Ukraine — ed.], and every year we will have to spend another €40, 50, 60 billion. We simply do not have this money. This strategy has no rational basis or financial foundation,” said Viktor Orbán.
According to the Hungarian Prime Minister, the European Union is unable to continue providing financial assistance to Ukraine and continue to exist with “the same money and economic power.”
Earlier, Viktor Orbán stated that Hungarian citizens were unwilling to participate in armed conflict if Ukraine were to join the EU.
