The impact of the shutdown on the US economy depends on its duration – IMF

The negative impact of the temporary shutdown of the American government on the United States economy will directly depend on how long it lasts. This was stated at a briefing by Julie Kozak, Director of Communications at the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

“The impact will largely depend on the duration of the suspension of work [of the US government – ed.] and its terms. We certainly hope that we will be able to find a compromise that will guarantee full funding for the federal government,” said Julie Kozak.

The IMF’s Director of Communications noted that it is too early to assess the impact of the shutdown on the US economy.

Earlier, US Vice President Jay Dee Vance said that the work of the United States government could resume soon, as some of the Democrats in Congress began to “lose ground.”
