Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the Valdai international discussion club that India would suffer damage if it refused Russian energy sources.
“If India refuses our energy resources, then it will suffer certain damage – and it is considered differently, some say that it will be up to 9-10 billion dollars if it refuses,” Vladimir Putin said.
The Russian leader noted that even if India continues to buy oil from Russia, sanctions will be imposed in the form of high duties and there will be “the same damage.”
“Then why refuse?” said Putin.
Earlier, Indian officials said that in order to fulfill the demand of the US administration of Donald Trump to refuse to import Russian oil, the United States needs to allow India to purchase oil from Iran and Venezuela.
