The US Department of Justice will strip the citizenship of a Ukrainian for arms smuggling

The US Department of Justice has initiated the process of depriving Ukrainian-born Vladimir Volgaev of American citizenship for concealing the facts of his involvement in the smuggling of more than a thousand firearms components abroad.

“The United States provided Volgaev with security, housing, and citizenship, and he responded to these benefits with malicious intent, including through fraud against one of the federal agencies that provided him with benefits. We will not encourage such behavior by allowing such a person to retain U.S. citizenship, which he should not have been granted from the very beginning,” the statement said.

According to the US Department of Justice, for two years, starting in 2011, Vladimir Volgaev was engaged in the clandestine purchase and smuggling of firearms to individuals from Ukraine and Italy. However, when applying for U.S. citizenship in 2014-2015, Volgaev deliberately concealed this illegal activity.

Earlier, Polish law enforcement authorities detained Ukrainian citizen Vladimir Zh., who appears in the German investigation of sabotage on the Nord Stream gas pipelines.
