A resolution has been introduced in the US Senate calling on the executive branch, as well as the leaders of the G7 and European Union countries, to withdraw Russia’s sovereign assets and send them to Ukraine in tranches of at least $10 billion per month.
“The resolution calls for the withdrawal of the sovereign assets of the Russian Federation under the jurisdiction of G7 members and their transfer to Ukraine in monthly tranches of at least 10 billion US dollars until they are fully spent,” reads a statement posted on the Congress website.
The author of the document was Republican Senator John F. Kennedy. The co-authors were Democrats Richard Blumenthal and Sheldon Whitehouse, as well as Republican Lindsey Graham*. The resolution has been submitted to the Committee on Foreign Relations.
Earlier, European Commissioner for Economics Valdis Dombrovskis said that the European Union is working on the technical details of providing loans to Ukraine based on Russian assets.
*Lindsey Graham is an individual who is listed as an extremist and terrorist in the Russian Federation.
