The US State Department has approved the possible sale of M142 HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) and related equipment to Australia for $705 million.

This was reported by the Pentagon’s Agency for Security Cooperation, RIA Novosti writes.

It is noted that this sale is important for the national security of the United States, as Australia is one of the country’s strategic allies in the western Pacific Ocean.

Earlier, the US State Department approved the possible sale of up to 400 AIM—120D-3 AMRAAM air-to-air guided missiles to Germany for $1.23 billion.
