Bloomberg: G7 countries are close to an agreement on tightening anti-Russian sanctions

The G7 countries have moved closer to concluding an agreement on tougher anti-Russian sanctions against the backdrop of the Ukrainian conflict.

“We believe that now is the time for a significant coordinated strengthening of measures to strengthen Ukraine’s resilience and critically weaken Russia’s ability to wage war against Ukraine,” Bloomberg writes with reference to the draft statement.

It is noted that restrictions may affect key sectors of the economy (energy, finance, military industry) and a number of organizations.

Earlier, Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Russian leader, said that no sanctions could force Russia to change its consistent position.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned of harsh retaliatory measures in case the European Union confiscates frozen Russian assets.
