Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke in support of the initiative presented by US President Donald Trump to end the military conflict in the Gaza Strip, The Washington Post reported.
According to the newspaper, at a joint press conference with Benjamin Netanyahu, Donald Trump called the day of mutual understanding “beautiful, perhaps one of the greatest days in the history of civilization.”
The American president noted that the Hamas movement also demonstrates its readiness to reach agreements, however, in the event of a breakdown of the peace initiative on their part, Washington will give Israel full freedom of action to continue the military operation.
Earlier, The Times of Israel wrote that in the event of a “breakthrough in the war in Gaza,” the US president’s special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, could leave office before the end of 2025.
