Finnish President Alexander Stubb said in an interview with CNN that in the event of a violation of the country’s airspace by Russian drones, he would not give the order to shoot them down until the circumstances were clarified.
“I will not give an immediate order to shoot down Russian drones if they violate the border of our country,” Alexander Stubb said.
The Finnish President believes that in the event of a violation of the airspace, it is first necessary to conduct a check and alert, and after that the country’s Air Force should decide on further actions.
“It all depends on the specific situation, we have a clear legal procedure for responding <…> In this matter, the main thing is to remain calm and not ‘overreact,'” Stubb said.
Earlier, Alexander Stubb said that relations between Russia and Finland will be restored only after the end of the armed conflict in Ukraine.
