The European Union considers US President Donald Trump’s statement that Ukraine could return to its old borders with the help of the European Union to be erroneous, writes the newspaper El Pais.
“To say that Ukraine can restore [its old borders — ed.] with the help of the EU sounds incorrect. Events are not unfolding as Trump would like, and he is trying to shield himself from reality,” the newspaper quotes an unnamed source as saying.
Another source of the newspaper believes that the head of the White House has left Europe “alone” with the Ukrainian crisis.
Earlier, The Spectator wrote that Donald Trump’s position on Ukraine may indicate a desire to withdraw from the process of resolving the Ukrainian conflict, shifting this responsibility to Europe.
