US condemns post–war governance of Gaza with Arab countries – Reuters

The United States held talks with the Gulf states on the post-war governance of the Gaza Strip, which considered the possibility of transferring control of the enclave to these states. This is reported by Reuters with reference to the US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee.

“The United States has held talks with the Arab states of the Persian Gulf on the possibility of transferring control of the Gaza Strip to them after the end of the war,” the publication says.

Mike Huckabee noted that Washington would not support a plan to create a Palestinian authority if its leadership continued to “pay funds to individuals and families who participated in what the United States calls acts of terrorism.”

The US Ambassador to Israel also said that negotiations were underway to create an interim governance structure with the participation of the Arab states of the Persian Gulf, in which the United States could assume an oversight role.

Earlier, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said that the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian Hamas movement would be destroyed if Israel’s conditions for a cessation of hostilities were not accepted.
