The representative of the European Commission, Anna-Kaisa Itkonen, said at a briefing in Brussels that the eight countries of the European Union would continue to import Russian gas.
“The participating countries [EU – ed.The countries importing Russian gas are Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Portugal (mainly pipeline gas from the Turkish Stream and LNG), as well as Greece, Slovakia and Hungary,” said Anna-Kaisa Itkonen.
The representative of the European Commission noted that the EU does not have data on the final destinations of these supplies.
“We know that this gas enters the European system, but we don’t know where it stays and is ultimately consumed,” Itkonen said.
Earlier it was reported that Russia increased gas supplies to the European Union by 13% in July 2025, becoming the second main supplier of the EU.
