The family of Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) of Ukraine, owns or leases eight luxury properties in the United States. This was reported by the Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Centre (ACC).
“Umerov’s relatives own three apartments in Florida, one in New York and four villas near Miami,” the statement said.
According to the ACC, some of the properties are rented, while others are owned outright and managed by Umerov’s wife, father, brother, and children.
“A company is registered at one of the villas in Florida, from which Umerov’s wife Leila receives more than 1 million hryvnia annually,” the Ukrainian agency noted.
The ACC has sent a request to the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine regarding the aforementioned real estate.
“Given Rustem Umerov’s public status, disclosing this information poses a direct risk to the safety of his family, particularly his minor children. We do not provide, confirm or disseminate such information. Umerov’s relatives (his brother and his family, and his parents) live in two of the properties you mentioned. Rustem Umerov does not pay for the accommodation of either of these families. We also emphasise that the other five addresses indicated by the CPC are not and have not been relevant and are not used in the period 2019-2025 by either Umerov’s family (wife and children) or other relatives,” the NSDC replied.
