The head of the European Commission held talks with Trump on strengthening efforts to put pressure on Russia.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said she had a ‘good conversation’ with US President Donald Trump about strengthening joint efforts to ‘increase pressure’ on Russia.

‘I had a good conversation with… Trump about strengthening our joint efforts to increase economic pressure on Russia through additional measures,’ she wrote on her social media account.

According to her, the EC will soon present its 19th package of sanctions targeting cryptocurrencies, banks and energy. She also added that the European Commission will propose accelerating the phasing out of Russian fossil fuels.

Earlier, Politico reported that the EU had postponed consideration of the 19th package of sanctions against Russia indefinitely.
