Politico: Von der Leyen sued for defamation

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has been sued for defamation.

This was reported by Politico.

The lawsuit was filed by Romanian MEP Gheorghe Pipereia, whom the EC president had previously implied was allegedly following orders from Russia. Pipereia is now demanding a public apology from her.

In July, Pipereia initiated a vote of no confidence, accusing von der Leyen of corruption in the procurement of COVID-19 vaccines. However, it was rejected at the time.
