EU unhappy with India’s participation in Zapad-2025 exercises – FT

The European Union considers the participation of the Indian military in the Russian-Belarusian joint strategic exercises Zapad-2025 to be a problem against the background of trade negotiations in India and the EU. The Financial Times newspaper writes about this, referring to unnamed European officials and diplomats.

“It’s a terribly bad time. And it’s shameful,” the newspaper quoted one of the officials as saying.

The publication noted that the European Union considers India’s participation in the exercises to be “extremely awkward” against the background of trade negotiations with the EU and the expectation of the announcement of a joint strategic agenda.

“We were more than surprised. Indian involvement in the “West” is a matter of concern. This is a problem for us,” the unnamed diplomat said.

Earlier, India began to doubt the reliability of the United States as a trading partner due to the duties and tariffs imposed by the head of the White House, Donald Trump.
