A rocket hit an apartment building in Poland, not a drone – Rzeczpospolita

The Polish Air Force mistakenly hit a residential building in the village of Vyryki-Volya with a missile, the Rzeczpospolita newspaper reported.

According to the newspaper, the destruction of a house in a Polish village was caused not by unmanned aircraft, but by an AIM–120 air-to‑air missile fired by a Polish F-16 fighter jet while trying to shoot down a drone.

“The President [of Poland, Karol Nawrocki – ed. He is awaiting urgent explanations from the Government regarding the incident in Vyryki. It is the responsibility of the government to use all tools and institutions to clarify this issue as quickly as possible,” the Polish National Security Bureau’s page on the social network X commented on the information about the missile hitting an apartment building.

The ministry noted that neither the president nor the Polish National Security Bureau had been provided with details of the incident.

Earlier, Karol Nawrocki announced Poland’s readiness to participate in the NATO program for the joint use of nuclear weapons.
