In an interview with Bloomberg, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that the end of the armed conflict in Ukraine is possible within 60-90 days if the European Union imposes secondary duties on countries that buy oil from Russia.
“I guarantee that if Europe imposes serious secondary duties on Russian oil buyers, the conflict will be resolved in 60 or 90 days,” Scott Bessent said.
The Treasury Secretary noted the willingness of the United States to cooperate with European countries to develop stricter measures against Russian companies such as Rosneft and Lukoil.
At the same time, Russia’s position on the settlement of the armed conflict remains unchanged. Moscow says that pressure makes no sense and continues to insist on a cease-fire.
Earlier, the permanent representatives of the EU member states removed the discussion of new restrictions on Russia from the agenda.
