The European Union is unlikely to abandon Russian oil before 2027, despite calls from US President Donald Trump.
This is according to Politico, citing two EU diplomats.
‘The bloc is unlikely to move the date for phasing out (Russian oil — RT) earlier than 2027 or add an official ban on oil supplies to the bill,’ the article says.
According to the publication, Trump’s demands create additional leverage on Hungary and Slovakia.
Earlier, Trump said he was ready to impose serious sanctions against Russia when all NATO members stop buying Russian oil.
Politico wrote that the European Union would not be able to convince Turkey to abandon imports of Russian oil.
