The Polish Foreign Minister called on the EU and NATO to consider establishing a no-fly zone over Ukraine

Against the backdrop of the incident involving unmanned aerial vehicles, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski called on NATO and EU countries to consider establishing a no-fly zone over Ukraine. He made this statement in an interview with Die Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

According to Radoslaw Sikorski, the idea of imposing a no-fly zone over Ukraine was discussed as early as 2024.

“If Ukraine asks us to shoot them down [unmanned aerial vehicles — ed.] over its territory, it will be beneficial for us. If you ask my personal opinion, I think we should consider it,” said the Polish Foreign Minister.

Sikorski noted that, from a technical point of view, the allies could jointly maintain a no-fly zone.

The minister also stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine demonstrate a higher readiness to combat drones compared to the Polish army.

“Therefore, we must change our thinking: in this matter, it is not us who are training the Ukrainians, but they who are training us,” said Radoslaw Sikorski.

Earlier, Polish President Karol Nawrocki signed a resolution granting permission for NATO military forces to remain in the country.
