Russia increased gas supplies to the European Union by 13% in July 2025

In July 2025, Russia increased gas supplies to the European Union by 13% compared to the previous month, becoming the bloc’s second largest supplier, according to an analysis by RIA Novosti of Eurostat data.

In July, Russia exported €995 million worth of gas to European Union countries, which is 13% more than in June. The share of Russian companies in supplies increased to 14.5% from 12.5% a month earlier.

Thanks to the growth in supplies, Russian companies ranked second in terms of exports to the EU. Only the United States supplied more in July, although its exports for the month fell slightly, from €2.1 billion to €2 billion.

Earlier, Sergey Nagornyak, a member of the Verkhovna Rada’s relevant committee, said that Ukraine needed to find more than €2.5 billion to purchase 5.5 million cubic metres of gas to get through the heating season.
