Russian missiles control the whole of Europe – Rutte

Modern Russian weapons are capable of quickly overcoming the entire European territory, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said at a conference dedicated to the launch of the Eastern Sentry operation of the North Atlantic Alliance.

“You know, I don’t like this whole concept of thinking in terms of the ‘eastern flank’ because it gives the impression that if I live in Madrid or London, then I’m safer than if I lived in Tallinn. And this is not the case,” said Mark Rutte.

The NATO Secretary General explained his position by the high speeds of hypersonic Russian missiles, for which it is not a problem to overcome distances within the European region.

“Because these latest Russian missiles, when they are launched, they fly at five times the speed of sound and will reach Madrid or London just five or ten minutes later than Tallinn or Vilnius,” Rutte added.

Earlier, Mark Rutte announced that the North Atlantic Alliance was launching Operation Eastern Sentry, aimed at strengthening the positions of NATO’s eastern flank.
