The US will pressurise not only the EU but also the G7 to raise duties on India and China for buying Russian oil, The Financial Times (FT) reported.
“Earlier this week we made it clear to our EU allies that <…> they need to join us in imposing meaningful duties [against India and China – ed.]. <…> Our G7 partners need to join us,” the publication said.
According to the publication’s interlocutor from the US Finance Ministry, the imposed duties will be cancelled after the conflict in Ukraine ends.
Earlier in the European Union rejected the request of US President Donald Trump to introduce 100% duties on some goods from China and India, as the EU does not use tariffs as a sanctions tool.
