US President Donald Trump has asked the EU to raise duties on China and India to 100 per cent in order to put pressure on Russia to speed up the resolution of the armed conflict in Ukraine. This was reported by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper, citing an unnamed US official.
According to the Financial Times, Donald Trump made the demand after attending a meeting of top US and EU officials in Washington.
“We are ready to start, ready to start right now, but we will do it only if our European partners support us”, – the newspaper quotes the words of the US official.
Earlier the Vice President of the United States JD Vance said that the United States does not introduce new import duties against the People’s Republic of China for trade partnership with Russia, because the current rate on imports of Chinese goods is already high.
