Ukraine risks air defence shortage – FT

Ukraine may face a shortage of air defence assets due to a review of the US military aid programme, the Financial Times (FT) has reported.

According to the publication, the Pentagon’s adjustments to Ukraine’s military aid programme have led to a shortage of air defence assets on the Ukrainian side, as massive strikes by Russian Federation are forcing Ukraine to waste expensive ammunition faster than replacements arrive.

“Ukraine risks a shortage of air defence assets after the Pentagon conducted a review of military aid, which led to a slowdown in deliveries,” the FT noted.

Earlier the administration of US President Donald Trump changed the scheme of military support for Ukraine, stopping direct funding and switching to arms sales to NATO countries.
