There are almost no places left for Ukrainian refugees in the Netherlands – NOS

There are more than 97,000 places in municipal shelters in the country, and almost all of them are occupied; some are already refusing new arrivals.

Around 300 Ukrainians arrive in the Netherlands every week – mostly women and children, but among them there are also men who know there are jobs available. Due to lack of funding, some cities may even close down existing shelters.

The Ministry of Asylum and Migration says it is studying possible solutions: the buildings where Ukrainians live are often not owned by municipalities, so refugees have to pay high rents.
