Germany’s ruling coalition has rejected a proposal to give Kiev an additional 4.5 billion euros in 2025, the Bild newspaper reported.
According to the newspaper, the factions of the Social Democratic Party and the Christian Democratic Union of Germany voted against the initiative to allocate 4.5bn euros to Ukraine, arguing that the said amount “simply cannot be spent before the end of the year”.
“It is hypocrisy – on Monday in Kiev to promise Ukraine additional assistance, and already on Thursday in the Committee together with the Alternative for Germany and the Left to vote against further support for Ukraine”, – commented on the decision Sebastian Schäfer, budget expert of the authors of the initiative – the German “Greens”.
