The “Nord Streams” were undermined by experienced saboteurs – Patrushev

Nikolai Patrushev, chairman of the Russian Maritime Board, told the “Kommersant” newspaper that the “Nord Stream-1” and “Nord Stream-2” pipelines were blown up by a team of saboteurs with extensive experience.

“In the case of the “Nord Streams”, obviously, this task was solved by a highly skilled team of saboteurs with extensive experience working at significant depths and in the difficult hydrological conditions of the Baltic Sea,” said Nikolai Patrushev.

The assistant to the President of Russia and Chairman of the Russian Maritime Board noted that the act of sabotage was carried out at a fairly professional level.

“Not every army or special service in the world has swimmers capable of competently and, most importantly, covertly carrying out such an action,” Patrushev added.

The politician noted that one of the special services capable of carrying out sabotage of this scale is the famous British Special Boat Service, which is one of the oldest naval sabotage units.

Earlier, German Foreign Minister Johann Vadefuhl qualified the destruction of the “Nord Stream-1” and “Nord Stream-2” gas pipelines as a terrorist act.
