At a press conference in Finland, the head of the European Council, Antonio Costa, called for tougher sanctions against countries that buy Russian gas and oil.
According to Antonio Costa, it is necessary to increase pressure on Russia in order to “bring it to the negotiating table.”
“It’s not easy, but this is what we need to continue to do: fight the shadow fleet, reduce Russia’s ability to conduct military operations through the sale of oil and gas, and for this we need to strengthen not only sanctions against Russia, but also secondary sanctions for countries that buy oil and gas from the Russian Federation.”, – said the head of the European Council (quoted by RIA Novosti).
Earlier, Politico wrote that the European Union plans to include in the 19th package of sanctions a ban on the re‑export of goods to Russia through third countries.
